Welcome to our two days release party of BizTalk 2010

As you my already know, we are hosting a fantastic event in Stockholm, as we celebrate 10 year anniversary of BizTalk as a product along with the release of the new 2010 version.

At the same time, Richard Seroter, Stephen W. Thomas, Ewan Fairweather, Michael Sexton and Rama Ramani are releasing a book titled Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform. The book tackles 13 real-world scenarios and applies a decision framework for deciding the best Microsoft application platform technology for the problem at hand. In each chapter, a use case is outlined, a pattern is identified, multiple candidate architectures are evaluated, and a solution is built based on the best platform technology.

Even though this is not a BizTalk book, it addresses many patterns, techniques and products related to BizTalk. And we thought it’d be a great idea to invite the authors over to the The Swedish BizTalk User Group, and do a TWO day event with 10 sessions! Each session will relate to a chapter in the book, addressing a specific real-world scenario.

Needless to say, the scope for this event targets much brother audience then we normally do, covering the full suite of applicable Microsoft technologies, such as Windows Workflow, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Server AppFabric, SQL Server Service Broker, SQL Server Integration Services, BizTalk Server, StreamInsight, Windows Azure and more. The goal is to sufficiently explain these applications and their optimal use cases in a way that helps you make better choices in your solution design.

Session 1: Walkthrough of Windows Application Server Enhancements code named Dublin

In this session we will review the features of the Windows Application Server Enhancements code named Dublin. This session will show how to use new and enhanced concepts in the .Net 4.0 framework to empower Services hosted in Windows allowing users insight into service health and activity.

Session 2: Managing, Monitoring, and Deploying Services using Windows Application Server Enhancements

This session takes a deeper dive into Windows Application Server Enhancements by looking in detail at the hosting of a Workflow Service. This will cover reviewing a web service aggregator Workflow Service, setting up custom tracking, monitoring running services, and import and export of applications.

Stephen W. Thomas started his career with a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Iowa. After realizing his passion was actually in software, he went to work for a major consulting firm where he worked on his first Microsoft BizTalk project in early 2001.
Since then Stephen has done consulting work for a number of different clients including many in the Fortune 500. He was fortunate to get to work with the beta release of BizTalk 2004, BizTalk 2006, and BizTalk 2006 R2 and BizTalk 2009. Stephen now focuses on all Connected Systems Technologies including the latest improvement in .Net 4.0 (Window Communication Foundation and Windows Workflow) and Dublin.
Currently, Stephen is an independent consultant focused solely on Microsoft based integration solutions using BizTalk and other Connection System Technologies.
Stephen runs the BizTalk community site www.BizTalkGurus.com and is a 5 year Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in BizTalk Server (https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile=7C702F76-09BA-4102-992B-5E23518A3482). Recent speaking engagements are at the Microsoft’s SOA and BP Conference in January 2009 in Seattle, WA and at Tech Ed in Orlando in 2007. Jon Flanders will speak at BizTalk User Group Sweden

Our user group has been fortunate enough this year to sign speakers like Darren Jefford and Dwight Goins. On the 4th of September we'll add Jon Flanders to that list.

Jon is an MVP BizTalk, instructor for Pluralsight and is well known a cross the world as an author, speaker, instructor and for his commitment to the community. You might have seen him talking at events such as TechEd, about WF, WCF, BizTalk, BAM or any other related technologies from the Microsoft Connected System Division. If you have, you know that he is not only competent, but uses a great deal of irony and jokes to make his presentation even more interesting.

There will be two, one hour, sessions, and we've left it up to Jon to deside what the sessions should be about, and just set the topic to -"In the head of Jon Flanders"
